कै . माजी खासदार किसनराव बाणखेले उर्फ अण्णा हे प्रामाणिक आणि सर्वसामान्यांचा नेता’ म्हणून ओळखलेजात होते.व तशी त्यांची प्रतिमा होती. आपल्या गुरूस्थानी असणारे संभाजीराव काकडे ऊर्फ लाला यांच्या नावाने दि १२ ऑगस्ट १९७४ रोजी लाला अर्बन बँकेची नारायणगाव येथे स्थापना करून त्यांनी सहकार क्षेत्रात काम केले. समाजकारण आणि राजकारण यांचा मिलाफ साधणारे नेते म्हणून ते कायमच लक्षात राहतील. किसनरावांचे शिक्षण तत्कालीन मॅट्रिकपर्यंत झाले होते . सर्वसामान्यांमध्ये मिळून मिसळून महाराष्ट्रात त्यांनी आपले स्वतःचे राजकीय स्थान निर्माण केले. १९७०मध्ये ते मंचरचे सरपंच झाले. ते सतत लोकांमध्ये असत. प्रश्न, सुख-दुःख समजून घेत. या जनसंपर्काच्या जोरावर आणि धडाडीवर त्यांनी जिल्हा परिषदेपासून लोकसभेपर्यंतची आपली राजकीय कारकीर्द घडविली. त्यानंतर म्हणजे १९७२मध्ये ते विधानसभेची निवडणूक लढले आणि जिंकूनही आले. हल्ली निवडणूक लढविण्यासाठी पैसा मोठ्या प्रमाणावर लागतो. मात्र, किसनरावांनी पैसे नसतानाही लोकवर्गणीतून निवडणुका लढविल्या आणि जिंकल्याही. १९८० आणि १९८५च्या विधानसभा निवडणुकाही त्यांनी जिंकल्या. त्यानंतर १९८९मध्ये ते लोकसभेच्या रिंगणात उतरले आणि इतिहास घडविला.
